Friday, December 22, 2017. The performance of the opera Prometheus Bound of Aeschylus set to music by Panagiotis Karousos and directed by Vasilis Asimakopoulos took place with great success at the 2nd Experimental Gymnasium of Athens.
The opera continuous its successful presentations in the Secondary Education Schools of Athens with a Seminar in a program approved by the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs of Greece (IEP). The purpose of the program is to understand the connection of the opera with the ancient Greek tragedy through the Prosody.
The training program is divided into two parts. The Theoretical who learns what the Prosody is, how the connection of discourse and music began in antiquity, and actively participate in interactive examples of indicative texts and interpreting examples of Prosody in ancient Greek, and The Experiential with the presentation of the opera.
The students applauded excitedly every aria impressed by the voices of the lyric singers. The role of Prometheus was performed by the unique bass Vasilis Asimakopoulos.
The role of Io was interpreted by soprano Irini Konsta with lyrical tension bringing to the stage a great theatrical performance similar to the ancient Greek tragedian roles.
The roles of Violence and the Goddess Athena were sung beautifully by fine soprano Mariza Kioseoglou. The great lyric singers accompanied Pandelis Legakis on piano.
At the Seminar: "Prosody as a Link of the Opera with the Ancient Greek Tragedy", Mrs Haido Kalitsaki, Director of the 2nd Experimental Gymnasium of Athens, gave a greeting and referred to the myth of Prometheus.
Konstantinos Kafetzopoulos, School Counselor of Pedagogical Responsibility of the 2nd Experimental Gymnasium of Athens, referred to Prometheus Bound of Aeschylus.
The excellent co-ordination of the Seminar was made by Dr. Chrysoula Tsigri, School Counselor of the French Language, which referred to the subject "The History of the Opera" in an excellent pedagogical way, inspiring the interest of the students in the opera.
The composer Panagiotis Karousos made the presentation and analysis of Prosody.
Aikaterini Panagioula Diakogeorgiou made a reference to the opera's historical review "Prometheus Bound" by Greek-Canadian composer Panagiotis Karousos.
The Overture of the opera "Prometheus Bound" was performed by flutist Katerina Verdi, and pianist Dr. Georgia Markea, Music School Advisor Athens.
The Interactive Voice Examples: "A Sample of Prosody in Ancient Greek in an Artwork by Panagiotis Karousos" was interpreted by Katerina Verdi, singer, and Dr. Georgia Markea, piano with the participation of students: Kastania Petrina, Tataraki Irini, Stephanou Katerina, members of the Choir of the 2nd High School of Athens under the direction of Maria Kokolaki, music teacher of the 2nd Experimental Gymnasium of Athens, (Fragments from the Second Episode of Prometheus Bound of Aeschylus).
The interactive theatrical examples under the supervision of Dr. Chrisoula Tsigri, School Counselor of the French Language, the Second Choir of Prometheus Bound Tragedy by Aeschylus was read with the interactive participation of the students of the 2nd Experimental Gymnasium of Athens: Socrates Papathanasiou, Maria Rodia, and Niki-Anna Savva.
The successful presentation of the opera "Prometheus Bound" to the 2nd Experimental Gymnasium of Athens, one of the best schools in Greece, marks the success of the Program of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs of Greece (IEP).
